WASHINGTON – The Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) is proud to announce its new eLearning management system, the Center for Online Resources & Education (CORE). CORE provides an integrated, one-stop portal for health education specialists and other health professionals to access distance learning opportunities, retrieve online resources, and manage continuing education credits.
At the CORE, you will find more than 100 archived SOPHE webinars, recordings from past SOPHE conferences, journal self-study opportunities, podcasts, toolkits, and fact sheets. Selected content is available for free, and for-fee content is offered with significant discounts for National SOPHE members. New content will be added regularly to the CORE learning management system.
CORE also proudly debuts SOPHE's first online course, based on five modules from the SOPHE textbook "Health Promotion Programs: From Theory to Practice." The course features recorded voice-over-PowerPoint lectures for asynchronous learning. The modules are based on select chapters and are delivered by several of the authors and editors of the textbook. Each module includes test questions, and the course is available for 4.25 continuing education contact hours for those with the designation of certified health education specialists (CHES) or master certified health education specialists (MCHES) and Certified Public Health (CPH). The cost of the course includes a copy of SOPHE's textbook.
"For more than 60 years, SOPHE has provided outstanding continuing education through our national conferences," says Elaine Auld, MPH, MCHES, SOPHE's Chief Executive Officer. "This next evolution of our integrated learning platform will meet the needs of members and other contemporary health professionals who want access to the latest information and resources, any time of day or night and without leaving the comfort of their homes or offices."
Among the unique benefits of accessing education through CORE is the ability to complete continuing education (CE) evaluations online and then print and save CE certificates from the system. CORE serves as a one-stop portal for eLearning, CE certificates, and online resources for certified health education specialists and those certified in public health. SOPHE remains the world's largest provider of CHES/MCHES credits, with more than 10,000 continuing education contact hours awarded annually through its national and chapter-sponsored events.
