Trust for America’s Health has released its 7th annual Ready or Not? – Protecting the Public’s Health from Diseases, Disasters, and Bioterrorism report. The report contains state-by-state health preparedness scores for all 50 states and Washington, DC based on 10 key indicators to assess health emergency preparedness capabilities. It also examines public health emergency preparedness in the context of the H1N1 flu outbreak and the economic downturn. To view the report: CLICK HERE.

Snapshots of Data for Communication Nation-Wide (SNAPS) SNAPS provides local level community profile information nation-wide. It can be browsed by county and state and searched by zip code. SNAPS serves as a valuable tool when responding to public health emergency events at the state, Tribal, and local levels. It provides a "snapshot" of key variables for consideration in guiding and tailoring health education and communication efforts to ensure diverse audiences receive critical public health messages that are accessible, understandable, and timely.

Crisis and Emergency Risk Communication (CERC)
CDC's Office of Communication is offering Emergency Risk Communication Training for appropriate public health workers and communicators both inside and outside the government. Goals
To disseminate training curricula and tools that will help public health communication professionals effectively prepare for and respond to public health emergencies.
To introduce public health officials, both inside and outside CDC, to the crisis and emergency risk training curricula and tools developed by the CDC Office of Communication.
To train communicators, both inside and outside CDC, to subsequently train public health professionals in how to systematically plan, develop, implement, and evaluate crisis and emergency risk communication activities.
