A Professional Development Webinar on Aging and Dementia

Alzheimer’s and other Dementias: A Growing Public Health Challenge: Ways to Educate, Empower and Engage Communities

This webinar is a collaboration between the SOPHE National Pennsylvania Chapter and the Alzheimer’s Association.

Webinar Description:

An opportunity to hold a conversation about the brain and share the fact that Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias are a major public health issue. Everyone who has a brain is at risk to develop Alzheimer’s, the only leading cause of death that cannot be prevented, cured or even slowed.  The number of Americans living with Alzheimer’s is growing — and growing fast.

The Alzheimer’s Association will provide the latest findings from the 2021 Alzheimer’s Association Facts & Figures Report including current prevalence and impact on American families, risk factors, impact on caregivers, and national cost of care. We will review why Alzheimer’s and other dementias is a growing public health challenge and ways we can take action through the Health Brain Initiative Road Map. Participants will learn how to access tools and resources to support families impacted by Alzheimer’s and other dementias and discuss local collaboration opportunities within the Greater PA Chapter.

An application has been submitted to award Certified Health Education Specialists (CHES) and/or Master Certified Health Education Specialists (MCHES) to receive up to 1 total Category I Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECH).  Maximum Advanced-level Continuing Education Contact Hours available are 1.  SOPHE, including its chapters, is a designated provider of Continuing Education Contact Hours (CECH) in health education by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing, Inc. ** There will be a cost of $3 for each CECH to be issued on behalf of CHES/MCHES professionals, pending approval of the application.**
