May 7, 2019 @ 2:30 pm - 3:30 pm EDT

Free

Doctor and patient review health notesPart I: The #MeToo movement has empowered survivors of sexual violence to come forward and share their experiences, including the trauma they endured after the incident(s). Now more than ever, we have an increased opportunity to support survivors. For public health professionals, understanding the nuances of how trauma affects the brain can be helpful when interacting with and supporting a survivor.

This discussion will cover the basics of sexual violence, the neurobiology of first-hand trauma, and common trauma responses.
