Preventing Opioid Misuse: Health Education Campaigns & Curriculum
According to CDC, overdose deaths due to opioids has quadrupled from 1999-2015. Health education professionals have a critical role to play in confronting this public health epidemic, which claims approximately 116 lives each day. This webinar will feature a new national communications campaign, The Truth about Opioids, to educate youth and young adults about the dangers of opioids and how to get help. The campaign builds on Truth Initiative’s highly successful efforts in reducing the number of teen smokers. This webinar also will feature a new SOPHE curriculum, POPPED!, for public health undergraduate and graduate students and other evidence-informed resources regarding opioid use disorder prevention and treatment.
