Using Principles of Leadership to Ignite Forward-Thinking Students (UPLIFTS)

Webinar

Speakers: Kirsten Rodgers, EdD, MSPH, MCHES® and Michele Bildner, MPH, MCHES®

This webinar will define leadership in public health and introduce how leadership skills such as serving as an effective team member, facilitating teams, and ethical decision-making can be integrated into health education curricula in professional preparation programs.

Using HESPA II Areas of Responsibilities VII Leadership and Management and VIII Ethics and Professionalism, presenters will demonstrate the need for leadership skills at the professional preparation stage, how faculty can assess student capacity for personal leadership and how leadership activities can be intentionally positioned throughout the health education curricula.

By the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Define the need for leadership in health education preparation programs.
2. Identify at least two ways to assess your students’ leadership capacity.
3. Discuss how specific activities can be integrated into health education curricula.
