SOPHE welcomes it’s newest chapter – Iowa

Chapters are critical to SOPHE’s work, providing a local networking arena and professional development opportunities through conferences and events. As the only professional association focused solely on health education, SOPHE’s chapters are also critical to the organization’s advocacy efforts, at the local, state, and federal levels.

Going forward, we look forward to Iowa SOPHE President Gayle Walter and the team’s collaboration with National SOPHE during implementation of our new Strategic Plan (2017-2020).

Adenike Bitto, MD, MPH, DrPH, MCHES, FRSPH, SOPHE President

The Iowa SOPHE chapter currently has a number of members contributing to health education in a variety of settings including public health departments, universities, and corporations of various sizes.

There is also a large representation of student members from universities across the state.

As a chapter , our primary goal is to provide leadership and support for public health educators to promote health, prevent disease, and advocate for sound health policies for all of our communities, particularly in Iowa. To attain this goal, we plan to provide opportunities for professional development, serve as a resource for current, reliable, and credible health information and best health education practice for our Chapter members and our communities.

Gayle Walter, PhD, CHES®, Iowa SOPHE President
