In June 2018, SOPHE’s Board approved a new resolution which documents the latest evidence on the epidemic and outlines health education steps to address opioid addiction and treatment.
Overall, these actions include:
- Educating and engaging SOPHE members in opioids prevention education
- Advocating for the role of health education specialists in opioids prevention and treatment
- Increasing professional and public education, awareness, advocacy, and funding to prevent opioid misuse and overdose
