SOPHE’s peer-reviewed journal, “Health Education & Behavior,” seeks an editor that will begin their term in January 2027.

HE&B is a peer-reviewed, bimonthly journal that publishes authoritative empirical research and commentary on critical health issues of interest to a broad range of professionals whose work involves understanding factors associated with health behavior and evidence-based social and behavioral strategies to improve health status.

The editor is responsible for the journal’s direction and vision including managing the manuscript solicitation and publishing process, maintaining effective relationships with the publisher and staff, and keeping the journal on an upward trajectory. 

The ideal candidate will be a SOPHE member and have an advanced degree in health education or a related field. Candidates must possess a track record of publications, and have experience with the editorial process while serving in one or more of the following journal-related roles: editor, associate editor, editorial board member, and/or a regular reviewer. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership and communication skills. 
 
After a brief transition period, the appointment for the new editor will begin January 1, 2027. The appointment is supported by an annual stipend not to exceed a period of five years.
