Professional preservice and in-service for health education specialists are based on the Areas of Responsibility, Competencies, and Sub-competencies of the Health Education Profession.   A study is done by NCHEC and SOPHE every five years to ensure that our profession has the latest knowledge and skills needed by the contemporary health education workforce.  HESPA II 2020 findings need to be disseminated to the field so that the health education curriculum can be aligned, appropriate continuing education is provided, and students and practitioners are prepared to take the new CHES/MCHES exam based on the HESPA II 2020 competencies in 2021.
