Ohio & Great Lakes SOPHE: “Preventing Unintentional Childhood Injuries– Then, Now, Imagine” with Dr. Angela Mickalide

The Ohio & Great Lakes SOPHE chapters invite you to this special event featuring National SOPHE President Angela Mickalide.

Description: Health educators often underestimate their role in preventing unintentional childhood injuries (UI), yet programs have successfully been incorporated into health education programs delivered in worksites, communities, schools, health care and other settings. This presentation will address all major risk areas, current and potential innovations and enforcement strategies.

Participants will explore: Epidemiology of UI and deaths related to motor vehicles, drowning, fire/burns, poisoning, choking/suffocation, and emerging risks. The history of UI, its current status, and a vision for the future based on a survey of leading child safety experts.
