Bidding Adieu to Tom Webb

After three years, Director of Development Tom Webb is leaving SOPHE.

“My time at SOPHE has truly been a joy,” Webb said. “I have been incredibly fortunate to work with such a passionate, talented, and ambitious staff, along with members, volunteers, and partners who care deeply about public health education. What I will cherish most are the relationships built along the way and the shared commitment to making a real difference,” Webb said.

During his SOPHE tenure, Webb has worn different hats including membership, marketing and fund development. He has been the consummate professional and always brought a smile and joy to the workplace.

“Tom Webb has been a valued member of the SOPHE team,” CEO Dr. William Datema said. “We have greatly appreciated his work with our members, donors, chapters, exhibitors, and other volunteers. His good humor and consistently positive approach have made him an ideal teammate. We will miss his many contributions, and we wish him great success in his future roles.”

Throughout his time at SOPHE, Webb’s proudest achievements are:

  • Strengthened relationships with members, volunteers, and sponsors while fostering a consistent culture of recognition and appreciation across the organization.
  • Expanded and diversified revenue through enhanced sponsorships, exhibitor engagement, individual giving strategies, and revitalized resource development efforts.
  • Supported major national events and key organizational priorities by developing strong partnerships, elevating donor visibility, and advancing SOPHE’s long-term fundraising strategies.

Webb is a dedicated professional with a diverse background. After graduating from George Mason University with a Bachelor’ in Mathematics, he embarked on a career in the nonprofit sector. Starting as a meeting planner, he soon transitioned into a membership role, drawn by his love for collaborating with passionate individuals.

Throughout his career, Webb developed a strong interest in public health, particularly after working closely with the HIV/AIDS Bureau in the Department of Health & Human Services. This experience sparked a deep passion for improving community health outcomes.

After his time with SOPHE, Webb is looking forward to what the future holds for him.

“I am excited for the next chapter and grateful for everything SOPHE has given me professionally and personally,” Webb said. “I look forward to continuing to support health education and mission-driven organizations in new ways, while cheering SOPHE on from the sidelines.”
