Washington, D.C. – The Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) is excited to announce that Eta Sigma Gamma (ESG) has signed on as a sponsoring society for the peer-reviewed journal Pedagogy in Health Promotion (PHP).
This sponsorship aims to support the mission of both SOPHE and ESG by promoting the journal’s content to support leaders and students in health education.

“We are excited to continue to expand our close collaboration with Eta Sigma Gamma through this partnership,” said Dr. William Datema, SOPHE CEO. “This journal is especially useful for instructors, educators, and students, which are all important audiences for Eta Sigma Gamma and SOPHE. It’s a natural fit, beneficial for the field and both organizations.”
The partnership mutually benefits SOPHE and ESG with brand promotion and further solidifies the two organizations’ longstanding relationship and shared interest in health education.
“ESG is thrilled to collaborate with SOPHE as a sponsor of the PHP Journal,” ESG President Katie Wagoner said. “This collaboration strengthens our shared commitment to advancing health education through impactful, evidence-based research and publications. This partnership expands the reach for ESG member publications, enhances opportunities for student involvement in research, and promotes the next generation of health education scholars.”
Eta Sigma Gamma members will have opportunities to submit and review content, and ESG will have both faculty and student representation on the editorial board. ESG will also help promote the journal to and through its membership.
“Pedagogy in Health Promotion is excited about SOPHE’s collaboration with Eta Sigma Gamma,” journal editor Dr. Heather Henderson said. “We welcome their members, students and professionals alike, to get involved with our journal. Whether serving as board members, reviewers, or through the sharing of our publications, we hope to support ESG’s core contributions of service, advocacy, education, and research.”
Pedagogy in Health Promotion focuses on pedagogy through contributions in areas such as curriculum and course/program design, assessment, and administration relevant to teaching and learning. The content of the journal is especially relevant to instructors or trainers who provide continuing professional education, in the broad arena of health promotion and disease prevention.
The quarterly journal, now in its 11th volume year, welcomes submissions addressing the art and science of teaching and learning, and how both contribute to the formation and ongoing development of the health promotion professional working in any site and with any population.
