Carlos Rodriguez-Diaz, PhD, MPH, MCHES®
“I am passionate about politics and how current social movements are shaping the future of our planet.”
Carlos Rodriguez-Diaz is excited about health education because he can work with communities and people with different backgrounds to achieve common goals.
He is an associate professor of prevention and community health at The George Washington University-Milken Institute School of Public Health. A native of Puerto Rico, he completed his MPH in health education at the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences School of Public Health.
He received his PhD in community health at Walden University-College of Health Sciences. He has post-doctoral training in global health and HIV research from the University of Puerto Rico-Medical Sciences Campus. Carlos worked as manager of health education and health promotion services in the correctional system in Puerto Rico.
His training in health education and health promotion provides him with the competencies, aptitudes, and opportunities to work with communities to intervene, research and advocate to reduce health inequities.
A mentor during his post-doctoral training reminded him that the community-centered work that he wanted to do required more time and the indicators of success should be set with the community and not only influenced by external sources.
